–  My Take  –

I have to admit that I am still amazed at the telephone, and the one with the cord!   So after viewing this video you’ll forgive me if make a few tipos here, I’m still a little dizzy…

Of course like most technology we take it for granted, the hard disk drive is another one of those miraculous inventions that even after you see exactly how it works, you don’t understand how it works!

December 24, 1954  is the original filing date of the application which led to US Patent 3,503,060, generally accepted as the definitive disk drive patent. ??? ???????   A team at IBM led by Rey Johnson is credited for the invention of the hard disk drive. ????? ????????? ????????    It was introduced by IBM in 1956 and the patent was issued on March 24, 1970.

So sit back and be amazed.  And next time you buy a hard drive, tell the salesperson you want to pay him twice as much! ??? ??????   The salesperson will think your nuts, but then he hasn’t seen this video…

Bill Hammack, also known as Engineer Guy, takes us on a detailed tour of the inner workings of the ubiquitous hard disk drive
