Talking to my best friend and high school buddy Dennis the other day.  News that one of our close friends from school had just passed away at 60 got us talking about the normal fragilities of life and reminiscing about growing up in America back then.  Like most baby boomers, we grew up in the 50s and 60s.  There were problems, but the foundation was solid and could handle the storms.   I told my friend that indeed we were fortunate to be exposed to the great traditions that defined America.  He lamented that it was a shame that they ‘were gone and never to return’.  ‘Wait a second good friend, I have to disagree on that.’   And then my Magic Jack cut out and our phone conversation ended.
